An egalitarian independent school.
Fostering academic excellence and a strong Jewish identity.

25 Years of Excellence

Kehila Heschel opened its doors in 1999. We’re a welcoming independent and egalitarian Jewish day school in Hamilton (JK - Grade 5).

Kehila is a pluralistic independent Jewish School that fosters academic excellence and a strong Jewish identity through a hands-on integrated curriculum and a supportive, caring environment.

We’re committed to developing the whole child, achieving a balance between intellectual and emotional growth and nurturing the leaders of tomorrow.

Small classes nurture curious learners, independent thinkers, and achievement.

An innovative integrated curriculum promotes learning and teaching in a holistic way and is project-based reflecting the real world, which is interactive: children learn by doing.

A Tri-lingual approach in English, Hebrew and French enhances cognitive development.

We encourage personal responsibility and ethical behavior by helping those in need, supporting human rights, and treating everyone with kindness and respect.

Connected to our Jewish Heritage

Our students develop a lasting connection to their Jewish heritage and a love of Israel. Our approach is interdenominational and includes elements in common to the spectrum of Jewish expression. Hebrew is taught using the Ivrit Be’Ivrit (Hebrew in Hebrew) approach and seen as a living language.

Outdoor and Environmental Learning

Located next to Churchill Park (25 acres of city-owned parkland), we are a member of Eco Schools Canada and support a curriculum with a robust environmental focus.

Students have the opportunity, in all-weather, for purposeful physical activity such as hiking the Royal Botanical Gardens trails, winter outdoor activities, collaborative games, and gardening.

A lifelong Community

Kehila means community, and we are a school where our students form lasting friendships and connections. Our students come from all around the greater Hamilton area, including Niagara, Guelph, Oakville and Burlington.

We encourage alumni and parents to become and stay involved in our community. If you are a parent or alumni, we hope you will keep in touch! Check out alumni page where you can learn more about becoming and staying involved - and supporting thought donations.
